[FDE] Pointsec Mobile Encryption vs Data Protector

Take a look at Beachhead Solutions, their product LDD sounds like it fits the 
bill for low IT overhead (won't change any processes or procedures) and no 
server required (Software as a Service, SaaS). Interesting security offering 
which seems to target SMB's which don't want to make large investments in 
licenses and operational support costs. Not sure on the USB question, IT only looked 
at the encryption and destruction capabilities of the product for the HD. 
 
IT dept. wanted to stay away from FDE for the same reasons you listed but 
found only a couple alternatives on the intelligent encryption side, Beachhead 
and Credant, which did require a server (more $$ than we could afford).
