Because your house keys are physical. And if you refuse to turn over
your house keys, a locksmith can do the job almost as quickly.
Passwords are very, very different in that they are not a physical
entity. Do you really want the government to have the power to
(legally) force you to divulge information that will incriminate
yourself?
