Ah, I see, so we should revert to what has been shown for at
least the last 300 years to not work at all reliably. In fact if
one does the research, one finds that, just as there were
pickpockets (a capital offense at the time) at hangings Tyburn in
18th century London, there spammers will be hard at work while
spammers are made examples of by Vlad the Impaler in Times Square.
It is well demonstrated that US states with the death penalty
have, on the whole, more violent crime than those without. Just
as we are quickly falling behind in broadband reach and speed, we
are falling behind the rest of the civilized world when it comes
to sentencing and capital punishment.
There is lots more that can be said on the subject, but this is
not the list for it so I will forbear any further comment, except
this parting shot: What is the definition of crazy? Isn't it,
Repeating the actions of the past and expecting a different
outcome?" Funny, as in strange, how common this thinking is in IT.
